Self awareness sometimes is difficult to grasp. Maybe it is because we deceive ourselves trying to be someone that we are not. Maybe it simply is that it takes time. But also, we change over time and looking back over the years, I know that God has changed me significantly…hopefully for the better.

In looking at how God has designed me, I would say my heart is to be on mission, serving the last, lost and least, through compassion, mercy and service. And how long did it take me to figure that out? I had bits and pieces, but rarely would I have been that precise about it. Yet, I still see God painting away on the canvas of my life, still filling in the details, the colors, the backdrop in creating this masterpiece which He is continuing to make and preparing me for the good works He has planned to accomplish through my journey.

So, that probably is the story of my 2010. There was a lot of wrestling, a lot of praying, a lot of searching. But in the end, there is a greater clarity…which is always good.
